There aren't any; your stationery may contain anything you please. It is customary to show the company name, address, telephone number, and web site and/or e-mail address, and possibly a few words about what it sells. The only gotcha is that you cannot use Inc. or anything else implying a corporation if it is not one.

NONE....there are no legal requirements to placing an order of paper.....others suggested that it must be paid for, but there are places that will send you free samples of your items, so that wouldn't be entirely true.

There aren't necessarily any "legal" requirements, other than the placement of type on the outside of the No. 10 (9.5" x 4-1/8") envelopes – it needs to not be so low on the face of the envelope so as to interfere with the optical recognition equipment that reads the address information. (If the return address is too low, it can end up causing your mail to be sent back to you instead of the addressee.)

You should also not put a phone number on the outside of the envelope with the return address for the same reason.

I would only add that it is morally and ethically responsible to work with a professional graphic designer or design firm so that the staionery you order has been created and designed by someone who knows what they're doing.

Is there any chain of stores in Canada that is selling a vast selection of stationery? (as W. H. Smith's in the UK)

I'm not looking for luxury, handcrafted papers, etc. just your normal paper-clips and pens, but with a big enough selection to choose from.
