Bridget's Review
The Rolodex Mesh Pencil Cup Organzer with 4 Compartments is the perfect home for my pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, paper clips and post-it notes. Everything has it's own little place which makes working a lot easier. I really like the mesh design, it looks really good on my desk.

Great little item
I now have a place to put all the odds and ends that I use every day but accumulate in my desk drawer. Well made, perfectly sized, and I particularly LOVE the litte drawer! Great item.

Not the best solution out there
This is a medium guage metal pen / pencil / desk organizer with a bin that can be removed, though it does take some fidgeting to get it out. I think the middle section of this unit could have been designed better, the bin takes up too much space and does not slide out well at all. This leaves less room for pens and pencils and the top sections are an odd size. If you need the big drawer then all is well, but I cannot think of anything but post-it notes to go in there and who needs that many?
The pen / pencil sections are too wide and too shallow so that pens and pencils just kind of flop around and this looks messy on a desk. I brought this to replace the age old mug solution and this has the same overall appearance of something put to uses other than what it was intended to do.
The separate sections of this are welded together and they are not very even joins so it rocks a bit and looks kind of sloppy up close. On the front right of the unit, there is a RoloDex logo and the one I have is very crooked. The logo is stamped into the metal screening so it cannot be fixed and it just makes the whole thing look a bit shabby. For the money I expected something a little more refined than this unit.

Perfect size for my desk
I often have too much on my desk and this is the perfect size with the right amount of compartments for me. Its sturdy, yet lightweight without being tippy at all. I love it because now I have all the items I need on a regular basis in one area and there is no more searching in my desk drawers.

Whats a good store for cute office supplies?
Jan 27, 2008 by La-ilaha-ilAllah | Posted in Other - US Local Businesses
I think office depot is too boring, and san rio is too much.
what is something in between where i can cute stationary stuff.
Like organizers, pencil pouches, pens whatever. you get the idea. any ideas are appreciated.
Paper Source or Blick Art in Pasadena. Actually, there's a good selection for art stores in Pasadena and they all try to differentiate themselves from more commercialized stores like Michaels. Personally, I wouldn't go to Michaels as I like supporting local independent business.
Anyways, taking a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to go supplies shopping would be a fun thing to do, especially in a beautiful city like Pasadena.

Craft project: I want to make an "organizer" for a little girl?
Dec 04, 2007 by E.B. | Posted in Hobbies & Crafts
Ok I am trying to find a pattern online (free preferably) so I can make a little organizer. You know, a fabric-covered book-like thing with a notepad & pencils & whatnot. Perhaps three-fold, something that shuts on itself & can be carried neatly, for an artistic little girl.
Problem is I have no idea what it's called, an "organizer" seems pretty vague.
What would this be called?
[and for "bonus points", can you help me find directions how to make one?]
Thanks so much!!
Here is what I found and hopefully you will be able to use one of them?

DIY Desk Organizer For A Cluttered Computer Desk.?
Feb 27, 2009 by DeppOsbourneFan | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
My computer desk is kind of large, but it is also a collector of everything essential and nonessential to computing! Is there some way to make simple little desk organizers out of things like cardboard, etc? (I actually do mean something kinda corny like that! When I was younger I had this cool little pen, pencil, eraser, etc organizer made out of paper towel tubes cut in small portions and glued on a piece of cardboard)
So, I basically need something or some way of organizing my desk mess ASAP and preferably without buying anything.
I agree with using old mugs, what a great idea to store pens/pencils in. I use them to store our toothbrushes and my makeup brushes.
Anyways, I would use baskets to capture papers. I use baskets and trays to keep everything in. I just picked up the cutest small wood trays from Target today for a $1 each that I'm going to use to store paper clips in one and a stapler in the other. I'm all about containing things to keep them from getting scattered and mixed up.
Look around your house for unused baskets, small boxes, small wood containers like those you can insert into a drawer to organize things and utilize what you already have. I have some sturdy small cardboard boxes that measure 3"x4" that my daughters received socks in and I use these to store pens in my desk drawer. I also save sturdy boxes that note cards come in and store erasers and pencils in these in my desk drawer.
So whether it's out in the open, or in a drawer, I use containers like baskets, trays, and boxes to capture and contain things. It just works better than having everything flying around everywhere. And, by the way, I'm not a big fan of those desk drawer inserts with a section for pens, a section for paper clips, etc. I've just found these get so messed up and unorganized after a day of use. I prefer individual containers for everything.

Be sure to check out the other pages on home office organization at http://www.lifeorganizeit.com/home-office-organization.html you may pick up a tip or two that may help you get that desk organized without spending too much money. Good luck!

Paper organizer or PDA?
Aug 01, 2008 by Dowhatnow? | Posted in PDAs & Handhelds
Do you prefer using a pencil and paper organizer, or an electronic one? I bought a pocket pc thinking it would be the thing that changed my life, but it's just not the same as a traditional organizer. What's your opinion?
Its the same as a paper organizer... you just have to become familiar with your new gadget and you'll love it just as much ..
PROs - you can edit information without the need for wite-out or those ugly scratched out marks .... you can receive an audible alert reminding you of a meeting .. you can easily color code your items with the use of categories (once you colored something on paper it had to stay that color) ... you can search through your contacts list by first of last name and not flip through papers ... AND you dont lose information bc a page fell out without you knowing ...
And if you have a great one with mobile capabilities or the internet ... its 10x better than your paper organizer
