BEST PENCIL EVER
I have been teaching for over 35 years and have used and seen a lot of pencil products. The Black Warrior is the BEST pencil I have ever used. I encourage my students to buy these, especially the pre-sharpened type. Many pencil companies should be ashamed of the inferior product they are offering. I cringe at the start of the school year when the kids return to the classroom with a handful of cheap pencils that do not sharpen or have leads that repeatedly break. You don't find this with the Black Warrior. This pencil sharpens evenly and writes with a smooth lead. TEACHERS OF AMERICA, UNITE! Collect and return all the crummy pencils your kids come to school with. Buy a Black Warrior for every kid and use them to write product complaint letters to all the companies that sell ripoff pencils. A pencil is a basic school supply and should be a quality item because it is frequently used. Mirado's Black Warrior is this product. It may cost a bit more than the mega-box of composite pencils, but the money is well spent.
Made in the USA - unusual for goods these days
These pencils were the only pencils at Staples that were made in the USA. They also were the only wood pencils that I've ever used that haven't been crappy in the last 10 years. I do wish they made them in an angled version too, since the completely circular version tends to roll off tables. The cedar smell is fantastic, the wood is hard and you won't spend half the pencil sharpening it like so many others. Worth it.
Mirando Black Pencile
Nicest pencil I've used lately. Pencils sharpen up very well and the cedar adds a very nice smell to the desk drawer.
Excellent pencil!
I administer a lot of tests to individuals and need good pencils. These are great...comfortable and with erasers that work. The best I've ever used.
pencils
They're good pencils, with equally good erasers. They write a little darker than your average pencil. I also found them at my local Rite Aid Store, for around the same price(minus Shipping).

The Pencil

I hated pencils growing up. They always reminded me of school: "And alter b transfer sure you have a Number 2 pencil ready!" I was always so nervous. What if I get a Handful 25 pencil? What's wrong with a Number 1 pencil? I gotta say it: I'm 43 years old. I've never seen anything but No. 2 pencils!

I have in mind the thing I hated most about them was how your writing line would broaden as the pencil dulled. You'd have to keep turning it in out of kilter to find a new sharp angle, but before too long you find yourself trying to stay between the college rules with a corpulent dull stick.

Then, of course, were the chastising bellows from teachers: "Michael Rigg, you're spending too much heyday at that pencil sharpener!" "But, it broke. I--" "Sit! Down!" "Yesss, maa'aaam."

HATED IT.

So why, some 35 years later, am I coming back around to the almighty pencil?

Like a one-in days of yore perfect stroke in golf, that high score in Peggle, or that first smooch, there's no describing the magic that hits you and makes you obsess about something overconfident. I can't pin it down. One day, at the DAYJ, I grabbed something out of my MST3k mug to write with. I realized it wasn't a pen, but I didn't have on one occasion to argue with myself.

THE FIRST REALIZATION: THE INK NEVER DRIES

The line was dark, thin, and undisturbed. It was a simple CVS No. 2 pencil from CVS pharmacy. I used that pencil all day, sharpened it in the aid's only electric sharpener, and kept it tucked above my ear until it was time to go expert in.

THE SECOND REALIZATION: ONLY PENCILS LOOK COOL TUCKED BEHIND AN EAR. SHARPIES DON'T CUT IT

On my way haven I stopped at The Wall (aka. Walgreens) and looked at the pencil selections...
