I work at a law center and they are closing down and we need to destory a ton of files and they want way to mush money to do it!
Not a firm that comes to shred them but one I can rent myself.
Why rent a shredder when a service will do it faster and cheaper? A service will shred a ton of paper in less than 30min and then recycle the shreds. Shredding it yourself will take days and unless you work for free that is also expensive. Shred-it is generally the most expensive option. You should get some more quotes.
i stuffed a large group of papers into my shredder and it froze and doesn't work anymore. How to fix it?
These shredders are built to do just what yours did. They go slow and only do a few sheets at a time. You get frustrated and put in more. It freezes and then you throw it away and buy a new one.
Don't fall into their trap. Use a shredding service. It is cheaper than replacing shredders all the time, saves your time, gives you all the security you need, and recycles all the paper.
I need a paper shredder that will handle paper up to 36" wide. I run a large format print shop where we make copies of building plans and blueprints. And many of my clients have asked me about recycling their old plans. I'd like to find an industrial grade shredder that can handle these large paper sizes, and destroy at least 20 -30 sheets at a time. Any ideas? Anyone?

At work we use a paper shredder, enough to fill 1 large trash b ag a day, and often it just goes into the dumpster. Will the city recycle it? What should we do with the bags of remains? Noone has any use for it.
Shredded paper can be recycled into new paper. Call the local recycling centers to see who will take it. They will come and pick it up but for your volume there will be a charge.
It is considered poor securiyt to give your paper to a pet store as you loose control of the material.
I need something that can shred large volumes of paper over a long period of time. It should also be able to shred credit cards, staples, and paper clips.
Why do you need to shred so many credit cards? :) Just kidding. I shred lots of paper on a regular basis, and usually use a Fellowes shredder. Their website has a lot of different models to choose from:

If you haven't heard about it yet, the Oriental Co., of Japan, has created a paper shredder that converts cast-off office paper into rolls of toilet chain. Named "Waxen Goat," the appliance is said to weigh take 63,000 pounds and costs about $100,000. All it takes is vibrations, water and 40 sheets of paper, and in 30 minutes a billow of toilet paper pops out. Please mitigation the pun.
How exactly does this type a difference in our atmosphere, our carbon footprint, or our facility to recycle efficiently? First, impressive 63,000 pounds of anything takes an hellacious lot of energy. Then there is the query of how much electricity is utilized in the conversion course of action and the amount of water needed. And let's not dismiss from one's mind the idea of elementary comfort -- always a ingredient in selecting such a adverse item as ladies' room paper.
There are probably justifiable reasons for a large corporation that produces a lot of loot paper to purchase a Whitish Goat. Aside from being socially creditable, it may be a great way to swell worker productivity by decency of the fact that if the facilities paper is really uncomfortable, employees won't disappear their desks.
In all seriousness, whether this is a well-message product or not, there are already many ways to recycle paper that have a larger crash on our planet. In the move toward sustainability, some ideas scarcely ought to be flushed.
paper shredders are now being a neccesary euipment whether you are in house, home, industry or any department becoz paper shredders makes our ...
