Trial by fire - it passes with flying colors
I bought the Fellowes w-11c yesterday on sale at a local store. I was trying to decide between it and another Fellowes "small business" class shredder that was on sale for $160, three times the price of the w-11c. I've replaced enough shredders that I figured it would probably save money in the long run to get a top-of-the-line shredder and pay out the $160 instead of replacing the shoddy ones as they break down.
I just couldn't bring myself to spend $160 on a shredder, though. As much as logic and reason said it was the right thing to do, I couldn't make myself do it. Instead, I bought the w-11c, in part based on the decent reviews I've seen on here. I don't run a home business, I just have lots of junk mail, canceled checks, and other personal documents I'd rather not leave in the trash for thieves to steal. That junk mail and those papers have been accumulating for 6 months, going in a big "shred it when you get a new shredder box."
Well, today was this thing's trial by fire. I emptied the box into the shredder and I was RELENTLESS. Unopened credit card offers, old bank statements, several checkbook pads for an account I no longer have, and more. I pushed the thing to its limit. It definitely handles the advertised "11 sheet" capacity, though it does so with some protest and a very noticeable slowing of the shred speed. It gets through it, though, and it's none the worse for wear. Today alone, I had to empty the bin 9 times... and its still running great! The construction is solid, safety features are great (the additional child safety lock on the top is really secure and impossible to override), and this thing can take whatever you throw at it, within reason.
All in all, I'm very happy I saved $110 and went with the w-11c instead of the business-class unit. If you shred perhaps 2 to 10 things per day, this is the ideal unit for you (especially if you don't like having to open junk mail envelopes before shredding 'em!)

As Promised
Good shredder. Tight cross cut. The only reason I didn't give it a five had more to do with the marketing than the product. It looks like the bin is tall in the picture. I was suprised when it was so short. BUT it's a strong shredder.!

a great shredder, at a very good price
This shredder works very well, doesn't take up a lot of room, and the price is very reasonable. My daughter recommended it to me, and I would recommend it to anyone who asks me to recommend a good shredder.

Great shredder can handle junk mail without clogging
We bought this to replace a cheaper model shredder that jammed all the time, and this fits the bill. I can feed junk mail without unfolding and it handles it with no problems. We debated if we need to buy a more expensive shredder (Fellows no-jam models were well-reviewed), but unless you're using in an office, don't waste the money. This does the job well!

It is not an option it does need it.
If you want to keep youre shredder in good condition meaning operating you will need this oil lubricant.
I would not risk using any other but hey! that is just me.
The machine has not complaint/failed at all.
Worth the extra bucks.

Oil for shredder
This Fellowes oil and lubricant has worked very well on the cutters of my Fellowes shredder. A very light oil and easy to apply. It's a large container (12 oz) and will last a long time if you follow the directions on the bottle. I will Purchase again when needed.

Shreds Well
Great shredder! Doesn't jam, shreds quickly, and is surprisingly quiet.
No more tearing paper by hand to destroy sensitive documents.
Jamming and overheating seem to be problems with cheap shredders, so
I decided to buy a good one.
Amazon performed very well--standard shipping took only 4 days to deliver
the shredder (other items shipped separately took a few days longer, but within
the time promised).

Excellent Lubricant!
This oil is amazing! I am using this lubricant with my W-11C shredder, and what a difference! My shredder shreds my papers just a bit faster. As another person said, this oil has a difference you can actually hear when you apply this oil. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone considering buying a lubricant for a shredder.

Nice Shredder
I bought this shredder after reading several good reviews about this product. It shreds documents with staples, credit/debit cards, and CD's no problem. The action on this shredder is smooth; I haven't had a problem with paper jamming yet. I have two small children, and planned to keep this machine near the kitchen where we read mail/do bills, so safety was a concern for me. The blades are so far recessed and underneath the touch senssitive safety bar that there doesn't seem to be any way even the smallest fingers could get in there, even if the touch sensitive safety bar shutoff feature failed for some reason. We have a few of the upgraded model of this machine at the office and I have heard no complaints. If you want a machine that will shred your personal stuff and some medium duty work for one or two people, then I don't think you can beat this machine for the money.

Awesome Fellowes Shredder
I bought this Fellowes Shredder to replace my very old Fellowes and I will say it's a winner. It's quiet and doesn't interfer with the TV like my old one did, it heavy duty and it's a beast at shredding. It has a drawer for the shredded paper instead of picking up the shredder head. If your fingers get to close to the cutter opening the sensor turns off the shredder. I have no complaints and just love this shredder and because of it great quality it will last a very long time.

Best Medium Shredder Yet
This shredder is the best one I've ever tried.
Here is what I have learned about this PS-77Cs shredder:
- The noise level of this Fellowes shredder is the same as other medium shredders I have used, i.e., the PS-60, and other brands.
- The basket part is black not blue.
- To remove the basket, you pull the basket forward. No need to lift the heavy cutting head.
- It did not come with bags, but they are not required.
- The basket is taller on the front side (with the window), and shorter on the backside.
- An 8 gallon trash bag will fit this basket to make clean up easier, but I haven't filled the basket up yet, but I have tried the 8 gallon trash bags for size and they fit great.
- The basket is plastic but strong enough for the job. The plastic basket is not designed to be jumped on, thrown off a cliff, run over by an automobile, etc., but it will hold the heavy cutter and confetti cut paper. It is strong enough so that there is no danger of it breaking from normal use.
- The safety feature to stop the cutter if fingers get close to the intake slot works perfectly.
- Shredding CD's is great, as well as credit cards, etc.
- This is a Medium duty shredder. Perfect for home office.
- Use the lubricating oil regularly. A light vegetable oil will also work fine.
- Comes with a 2 page illustrated manual (in multiple languages) so the most manual-phobic can deal with it.
I would buy this brand and model again, and no, I do not work for Fellowes or know anyone who does.

So far, a great shredder for the money
I picked this shredder up a couple months ago after finally growing tired of periodically replacing cheap ones after they burned out, and have been very happy. It's quieter and runs much more smoothly than my previous shredders, doesn't jam up even with a decent stack of papers or a thick envelope, and is easy to maintain. The safesense technology seems to work well, in that it stops instantly when you touch the entry. The bin is a bit flimsy but strong enough to hold shredded paper and doesn't seem fragile enough that it will break during normal use. I can't speak to its long-term longevity since I've only had it a few months, but with regular oiling and maintenance I am hoping to get years of use out of it.
Also, in response to the few comments I saw regarding the strips being long enough to read account numbers: Given that most account statements are read from right to left, and the strip size is 5/32" horizontally and 2" vertically on this shredder, if you are seeing readable names or account numbers on a piece of shredded paper, it means you are putting the paper in sideways.

Is the Fellowes c-120i (120i) Paper shredder available in the United States?
Jan 09, 2009 by Laura L | Posted in Other - Yahoo! Products
When I do searches for this shredder I keep getting European websites. Thanks.
On Ebay (:
Corky :) | Jan 09, 2009
Great question and fortunately it is now available here too! They just released it in the EU first and then rolled it out in the United States. Happy Shopping.
Kris J | Jan 09, 2009
I believe you are talking about a strip cut shredder. You may want to check out a cross cut shredder, they are more secure.

Fellowes Paper Shredders?????????
Jul 06, 2007 by SEO-ManageR | Posted in Small Business
i recently buy Fellowes office paper shredder from Clary's Online paper shredders store http://www.fellowes-shredder.com and its working very well but for some security and care reason i wants to know how many times i have to oil and maintenance my paper shredder?
I would recommend oiling it at least every 2-3 days if you are using it regularly. I have been using one for about 3 years now, shredding 50-75 pages a day and it has worked like a charm. It has never needed any other maintenance.

Can I put CD's into the Fellowes PS-79Ci paper shredder?
Feb 24, 2009 by Laura L | Posted in Yahoo! Shopping
OBSERVATION: Are Laura L and Kris J bestest friends? You two have a most unusual habit of answering each others questions. Could you two possibly both work for monomachines.com? Let me check my magic 8-ball......one minute while I shake it........"It is decidedly so." The 8 ball is never wrong. :-)
The answer to your question is Yes. It even has a convenient guide that makes shredding CDs very easy. I have personally used the shredder and really like it. It can also shred credit cards if the need ever arises.
