Stinks
It lasted one week, then jammed up and could not be cleared. I for one will never by an Aurora product again.

Good shredder for the price....
Compact, light shredder....does fine with 3-4 sheets, any more is too stressful on machine.

Smaller than anticpated
I have had several shredders in the past (this is replacing my last one that the dog ate the cord)and all have been the size of a small waste basket. Not the case this time, its more like half the size of a small wastebasket. Thus it fills up quickly and I have to empty it faster than i would like. As for its claim of shredding 8 pages it did slower than i would like but it did do it.
On the plus side if you do a page at a time it is the quickest shredder I have used and to do one page at a time is faster than doing the 8 pages at once. Doing 3-4 pages at a time is no problem at all. It is slightly quieter than my previous shredder. It also looks nice as it is all black and very slick design, also there is a window that shows how full it is. After 20 minutes of use no over heating problems like my previous shredder.
I looked at lots of shredders before I made this purchase and for the price I am satisfied that this shredder is comprable to the shredders in this price range if not a higher price range.

What a Great Shredder!!!!
I purchased this shredder because my old Fellowes shredder bit the dust.... I had it about 6 yrs. and it worked great for my needs.... I seen this one and read the reviews and thought it would be perfect for me.... Well I was RIGHT! :) This is a great shredder.... As soon as I got it, I put it to work... I had lots, and lots of stuff that needed to be shredded since my old one broke.... it handled all the paper like a dream, and a couple of old credit cards as well.... shredded so nicely and I was surprised that it was quiter than my old one too... I mean it's not super quite, it is a shredder! But it was not as noisy as my old one.... and I like the fellowes brand and know they have good quality products out there.... so I'm thrilled with this baby! I also got the lubricant to keep my shredder around for a long time! Well worth the cost to keep my privacy private! :)

Metal cutting blades...
I was just remarking to my husband how much quieter this shredder is than the one we just replaced. Then as I began writing my review, I noticed how others say this shredder is noisy. Anyway, my hubby and I are happy with the sound, because it is quiet as far as we're concerned.
Our old, inexpensive, cross-cut shredder was small which didn't bother us. It was the first one we ever owned & was advertised to shred credit cards and paper. We didn't mind emptying it more often. We shredded credit cards with it, and it handled about seven pieces of paper at a time. After about five years, it wasn't working efficiently and would only shred papers that we put along the edges. We discovered that the shredder had plastic & metal cutting blades. The plastic pieces were bent, some were ripped, probably from shredding credit cards; this is what prevented it from working properly. So we made sure to buy a shredder with all metal blades. The Fellowes Powershred W-11C Cross-Cut Shredder (3103201) fit the bill and has been working fine for us. We've been using it about 6 weeks now. I will update this review, if any problems develop.

Noisy but works extremely well
The reviews that say this is noisy weren't kidding. Much louder than my previous Fellowes shredder but also shreds much faster and no jams so far. Very good product for the money if you don't mind the noise.

it broke within 3 minutes
I just bought this item to shred junk mail and some personal stuff. Within three minutes, it stopped working! I didn't put too much in and was working fine...then it just stopped and it doesnt appear that it is jammed. It must be electrical?

Adaquate but just
This product cuts paper into wide strips rather than shredding it. The collection box is too small thus requiring frequent emptying. I've had better desk-type units and cannot recomment this one.

Good for weekly shredding.
The biggest issue is the size of the slot feed. It just won't accept anything wider than a postcard without folding. This means the standard 8 1/2 x 11 pages need to be torn/folded in order to fit.
The parts are solid and the light weight makes emptying the basket easy. Good for your Grandma, whom I bought this for.

Good shredder for those with little junk mail & space
This little shredder is very compact and quite simple to setup and use. It seems to shred well and includes a reverse button, as most do. My only complaint is that the opening to insert papers for shredding is very small, in fact a sheet of regular letter size paper folded in half won't fit (you have to fold it in thirds). It's strange they would make it so small, as you lose convenience by having to fold most things before disposing of them.

Perfect for the small space
I got this shredder a while back, and I think it's perfect if you are looking for a compact shredder. The major difference between this and other shredders is the mouth of the feed is only what 4 1/2 inches wide. This means you must fold full sheets in thirds or in half lengthwise, but performance has been good and aesthetics are also nice. This handles credit cards fairly well. I wouldn't want to go through boxes of papers with this, but for the occasional piece of junk mail or credit card offer that you want to get rid of, this is a nice option.

What do you think is the best brand of a small cross cut paper shredder?
Jul 06, 2008 by workmanship | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
I would like a reasonable priced one. Thank you.
Please be specific with models and brands. Thank you.
If you are concerned with security you need a shredder that doesn't "cut" the paper put tears it apart by the fiber. This makes it impossible to re-assemble. You should also get the biggest shredder you can afford as the cheap ones are just that.

I think I got mine at Sears. The most important thing I think is the safety feature. Otherwise they can be very dangerous, especially if you have children or pets. Mine has an off switch. Some of them are on all the time and you just put the paper in and it cuts. But mine you have to also turn it on.

What's the difference between diamond cut and cross cut paper shredder What's best?
Sep 20, 2006 by Silverbroom | Posted in Other - Electronics
The size of the particle is more important than the shape of the particle for security. Just avoid the cheap shredders as they just don't last.

which model is the best cross cut paper shredder ?
Sep 04, 2007 by Nathan B | Posted in Other - Electronics
We have a Vecoplan and love it. It will rip up 20,000 pounds of paper an hour. It will also shred disks, hard drives, skiis, kevlar vests, or whatever else you have sitting around the office.

What is the best diamond or cross cut shredder for home use ?
Mar 03, 2008 by patience | Posted in Other - Electronics
I'm looking for something with medium duty as I have years of papers to shred..... removable basket, overload protection and hopefully under $100.00
If you are looking for one that is not made with plastic gears and freeze up then you will need to up your budget. With a few years of shredding then get a service.
