Waste of Money
For me. I keep it on the floor, and as others have pointed out, it needs to be emptied often, but you don't know how often because the paper piles up in back, not in front, so you can't tell how full it is just by looking. When you pull out the drawer, paper falls out behind it--ALWAYS--unless you are shredding and emptying one or two pages at a time. Mine also will just stop working for awhile, and then will start up again--doesn't seem to be connected with how full it is. Poor design. On the plus side, it is a strong shredder, when it's working.

Junk...multiple issues
As with the others, major flaws. 1 - does not take a full sized sheet of paper. 2 - struggles with credit cards, jamming constantly. 3 - paper feeds into the back with no way to flow forward unless you shake it, causing it to constantly jam. 4 - tray is tiny - about 12 full sized pieces of paper shredded and you end up needing to empty it. In addition, because the paper bogs down in the back, it comes exploding out when you pull the tray creating a massive mess. 5 - this just started, but mine will not shut off now...the motor keeps running even when powered down, forcing it to be unplugged or tray removed. 6 - You have to slide the paper way too far down to catch the blades (about 4-5 inches) into a slot that in someone's dreams might take 20 pages, but I have found it to only be capable of about 8-9 max. I am trying to figure out how to contact B&D on their website, but they have no Customer Service email from my quick site review. I don't know how this thing made it through QA/QC as it is an engineering failure. We are turning ours into goodwill as we move and will go with another brand in our new home.

Junk mail, be gone!!
I don't understand all the negative reviews. This paper shredder does what it's clearly designed to do - shred junk mail.
If you want a heavy duty shredder to destroy the evidence, Mr. Nixon, this isn't the one for you. But it works great to shred all those annoying credit card offers and mortgage offers and life insurance offers that we never even bother to open.

Small Package, High Performance
Great little shredder. I have worn out three shredders from Office Depot. This one is going strong. Easy to maintain and empty shredded documents. Don't forget Amazons great service.

Lasted 3 months then safety switch broke
The paper shredder will work great if you only shred 2 or 3 pages a year. Under normal use(typical barrage of junk mail, etc.) it will last about 3 months. The safety switch is activated by a very, very, very, thin piece of plastic that breaks very easily.

Powerful Shredder
Don't settle for something cheap. Get a quality shredder that finally works as advertised. The price is right ~$60. It eats staples and CD's too.

Half The Time
The first shredder received did not operate. It would not even turn on. I returned it and had a second one shipped. The second one works great. If this trend continues the folks at Blank & Decker will have to make two shredders to get one that satisfies a customer.

Too much plastic!
I purchased this shredder about 5 months ago for small office use. At first it seemed quiet and powerful, but as time went on, it got noisier and noisier. I found I had to clean it out frequently as the cutters would clog and jam.
After just a couple of months use, it began making loud clicking and thumping noises. I discovered that the plastic framework that supports the shredder rollers was cracking and splitting in various locations. Since B&D told me it wasn't covered under warranty, I attempted to patch it by means of some fairly major surgery, and was able to keep it going for a couple more months.
Yesterday, however, the entire top housing simply broke apart, the shredder rollers have completely been forced out of their (plastic!) support frames, and the shredder is now useless.
If you plan on using this for more than very occasional home use, you will be disappointed. It uses too much plastic in its construction, and the plastic they use simply isn't strong enough to withstand the loads imposed upon it by normal operation.
Black & Decker, get your designers busy and fix this turkey!

Junk - Serious design flaws
This shredder jams constantly. The design is lousy. It appears practically empty when full. You open the drawer and confetti flies everywhere, because the drawer is actually a small fraction of what you see on the front of the machine. The opening is less than 8 1/2 inches, so everything has to be folded. This is a great time waster and a big piece of junk!!

worked for 8 months...
The main design flaw is that small pieces of paper (like credit card receipts) don't feed easily or trigger the shredding motor sensor. Other than that, it worked fine.
Until, of course, the motor started running continuously, and would not stop even when the top power switch indicated "off" (a safety hazard). The basket interlock still stops it, as does pulling the plug (of course).

good shredder - time saver
We got this shredder for junk mail. It shreds unopened mail which saves lots of time. It lives up to the 20 sheet capacity and doesn't take up a lot of space. I wish the waste basket was a little larger but other than that a solid shredder.

Shredder a little short in the need capacity.
This is a good shredder if you only want to shred unopened envelopes. That is it's intent. My need is for a letter width shredder.

Identy theft shredder
So I bought new at target betting on the "Black and Decker" name.
As usual i am yet again disaponted in yet another domestic product.
This little gem worked fine the first two times I needed to shred. The third time I used it, well lets just say it did not work, I shredded my first two items a pay stub and an old bill. Omg overload!?? it just stopped working, cant get it to shred anything else. So a an old bill and a pay stub brought this baby down fast.. LOL good job black & decker!!. So be careful on this one.
