Cuts Great
I got mine from Ritz Camera sold through Amazon for $31. Its been years since school days and the sometimes not so sharp guillotine cast iron cutters.
This cutter has a large base but being plastic is light but very sturdy. I've used it for standard sheets, matte, photo, tissue, and cardboard. Although a short time owner, it cuts everything I need it for. The most I cut is 5 sheets of light weight matte but I'm sure it will handle several more. Remember to hold down the plastic tabs before you cut and standing works best for me.
I wanted straight clean cuts, built to last, and have no need for large quantity. I read reviews and I think this cutter is the best bang for the buck.

Cuts mattboard!
I love this cutter!!!! I've had my cutter for more than a year now. I like to make books and need to be able to cut mat board from time to time. I didn't want to have to keep going to my local Hobby Lobby to have them cut this for me every time I needed a particular size. Now, I just go to Hobby Lobby pick out a 32"x40" sheet of mat board and have them cut them into 12x12 pieces for me (and they give me the odd pieces if I ask for them). I have all the mat board I need for quite a while. I go from paper to mat board back to cutting paper again. I use the grid lines to line up my major cuts. It would be nice if it had a ruler at the bottom. But, I am very pleased with it. I wouldn't trade it for the world! Clean, crisp, straight cuts every time. Still as sharp as the day I first bought it.

Tonic paper cutter
I am quite satisfied with the Tonic 12x12 paper cutter. The blade is sharp and I like the size. The only complaint I have is the measuring guide/ruler at the top is not real easy to use. It would also be helpful if there was a ruler on the bottom of the cutter to help align the paper.

I LOVE IT!
This paper cutter is fantastic. Cuts clean and straight, and straight is wonderful, after using my old one for 5 years. I recommend it highly!

Great for hobbies!
I love this paper cutter. I use industrial strength paper cutters at work. This one obviously isn't that professional strength but for my hobbies such as making large quantities of cards, this works great!
I'd highly recommend it. The blade is wonderfully sharp and will shave off just millimeters.

Disappointed
I am very disappointed with this product. The Curvy Cutter is overpriced, doesn't offer enough "outside the track options" for additional sizes, offers no instructions for cutting outside the circle.

Great cutter, easy to use and very versatile!
I have not had any problem with "jagged edges". You do have to use a glass cutting mat (a self-healing mat will not cut well, and will probably lead to jagged edges), but rather than buy a pricey one made for scrapbooking, I recommend the housewars section. I use a large glass mat for a kitchen counter, turned over so that the smooth side is up. Works great!
I love this cutter! It's so easy to use, and cuts every circle size from it's smallest to largest - there are no "gaps" in the sizes you can cut, like you get with the similar CM system. It also will cut HUGE circles - you can turn the cutter around so that the blade goes on the outside of the template and it will cut circles to well over 12".

Scrapbook beginner: Help to find out some links for specimen layouts also?
May 22, 2007 by I think,therefore I am | Posted in Hobbies & Crafts
I am planning to make a travel scrapbook of my recent tours. But I am not a person of art and craft. I really have no idea of scrapbooking tools. pls give me some idea of the basic things I need to get started. Probably I will not get enough time to carry out the hobby for a long period...I just want to make only this one scrapbook. So I need only basic things...not any expensive material or iteam or books etc to learn the craft. It will be a simple, extremely personal one.So far I have got the idea that I need these things first.1. An acid free scrapbook of 12x12(does this come with same papers or I have to buy tem seperately)
it already contains paper them hoew can I use my own choice of co- ordinating papers for pasting photos and writing the journal
2.Acid free, waterand fade proof archival pen
3. Acid and water free glue
4. paper cutter( a fancy one or a simle cutter will do?)
and obviously photos and IMAGINATION.
Pls guide me what else should I buy at this time
Well, you have a lot of the basics down. You will just need to find papers that match your travel book and embellishments. These you can buy in small quantities just for your particular scrapbook.
In most cases, scrapbooks do come with a white page inside the page protectors, but many change those out and use a cardstock page in various colors/patterns as the background and add pattern paper, photos, and embellishments to that.
Look around at various ideas online and in books, pull layouts that you like from those and copy them. It'll make completing the scrapbook much easier for you. You can also purchase scrapbook kits that contain cardstock, patterned paper, and embellishments all in one pack that coordinate together, you basically just cut those all apart and put together on pages. I sell a very nice travel kit with all those pieces if you're interested, just contact me if you'd like more information, I can show you the link in my catalog.
Happy Crafting!

To start a scrapbook alls you really need is some paper, some photos and an album, if you want a place to store your pages. When you buy an album from a store, it doesn't come with sheets of paper. It just comes with protective ones that you put the scrapbook page inside of. Also you don't need a special pen to do your journaling. Any pen, pencil, crayon, marker, anything you want to use, will do. You can also print things from your computer and paste them into your page for journaling. Another thing you don't really need is a cutter. You can use scissors, but if you want a cutter and don't want to spend a lot of money and you're only going to use it a few times, most dollar stores carry them. A good place to get the materials you want for a cheap price is on eBay. If you're not set up to use it and don't know much about what to buy, I have a lot of travel scrapbook supplies in my collection and I would be willing to give to you. I don't travel, so I don't need them. I could send you a whole travel kit including an album, paper, embellishments, stickers, etc. for around $15. I also go custom scrapbooks so if you wanted someone to do the work for you, then I could help. Also if you get a Sunday paper, if you have craft stores like Michaels, JoAnns or AC Moore, they usually have ads in the paper that have a 40% off coupon that you could use in there store. They too have kits for traveling. I hope this helps!

Try these websites, that way you don't have to purchase magazines. Also, try glue sticks, stickers with the themes for your pages.

Creative Memories has some great starter kits that give you basic tools, paper and an album... There are also layout ideas and kits available. If you're not a crafty person and you don't want to do a lot of cut-and-paste or embellishments, check out the PicFolio line (no cut and paste required:-)) or the StoryBook- create it on the computer, creative memories prints it in a bound book - Software is free and VERY easy to use- Cost is comparable to buying all of the tools, adhesives, coversets, papers, ect- but without any mess:-)
Either way, Happy Scrapping:-)
