Great personal papercutter
This is a very good papercutter. It has a very solid base to it
and doesn't flex like other brands I have tried. It makes very straight cuts.
I use this with the heaviest card stock I can find. 110pd index card stock.
It does come with a replacement blade, but I wondered about replacement after that.
So I went to [...] and found a replacement blade called "TripleTrack"
Replacement blades. cost $5.50 + shipping $9.90 OUCH!! However they did work.
I wish someone would of had them on Amazon. I would have saved $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I wish I had kept my old original gray Personal Paper Trimmer
Ugh. I am hating this newer model, and regret getting rid of my old gray one. The orange cutting blade finds every excuse to fall out, since the acrylic housing is too flexible. On the old ones, it was much more rigid and the blade stayed in place. I also find I really have to push down hard on the track in order to keep the paper in place while cutting. I'm so fed up with it that I'm looking for a new/better one or I might get lucky and find one of the old gray ones.

At nearly double the price of a knockoff at Wally World, this Fiskars product is about 10 times the value!!!
Heavier made gives better control and faster cutting. I print my own photos and trim them myself to fit standard frames, and this device is as good as some of the cutters I have used in business at much higher prices than this.
This is a good, safe device for home and hobby use.

Worst Blades Ever!
This cutter works well - WHEN it works. The problem is that the blades dull out in literally no time. I have needed to use it to cut cardstock paper and at about the 30th cut - it starts to shred the paper. Overall it does a fairly straight job - but I end up going through blades like I do tissues - it really is ridiculous. And on top of the price of the cutter itself, to get 2 replacement blades it is around[...]. This cutter has not been worth it at all for me and the measurements - to add on to it - when you get between the 5 and the 6 it's almost as if it's not accurate and difficult to measure! I tried to cut an 11" paper in half at the 5 1/2 and it is always off enough to notice. It's very odd actually. Would not recommend this.

Not the best
This trimmer cuts well, however there are not enough measurement marks. If you are trimming a 4*6 picture down to a 4*3 picture you have the guide at the bottom, but nothing in the middle to make sure you really have it lined up straight. I found I had to really pay attention to the bottom edge of the photo holding it securly against the edge. If you had one that wasn't a straight edge guessing is the only option.

Invest in a better cutter
I bought this paper cutter for card making. It is not made for frequent use. It does not trim off small corrections. The paper curls on the edge. The blades dull quickly and the measuring guides are not accurate. This is a decent cutter if you do not care about precision or if you do not use it frequently. If you are going to do a lot of cutting and you need to be able to trim or shave off the edges, invest in a better quality cutter.

ruined my pictures
I've never written a product review before, but I am SO disappointed in this cutter. The underneath part rubs just right on the little plastic cutter to create ridges in the plastic right next to the blade, which then scratches the surface of the images I'm trying to cut. Besides that, it creates a ragged edge. Looks like a really old blade is cutting, but the product is new, and i used two brand new blades that both did the same thing. I'm very, very frustrated. I threw away the receipt too because I had an old Fiskars cutter that i used ALL the time and loved, I bought the new one simply because I couldn't find replacement blades for the old one.
It's VERY possible that I just got one of the few poorly made ones, but it's not worth buying a new one to risk the same thing happening. I guess i'll look on ebay for a blade for my old one, or just go with a different brand.

This trimmer works petty well. The price was comparable to what you'd find in the stores. Just be careful to protect the blade if you take it out. It will not give a clean cut if not stored properly. It's got easy to read measurements and the swing out arm is very helpful. The blades are very easy to replace.

Well, it cuts paper in a straight line
I have been using this for several months and it has been cutting straight lines, which is what I got it for. But I do have some complaints. The markings aren't quite accurate on the one I got. There are two grids, one on each side of the cutter and one is right on and the other is off a little. This wouldn't be a problem but I can't always see the accurate one due to the paper covering it.
Another problem is that that you have to guess exactly where the blade will cut. There is just a trough where the blade cuts but it doesn't give you a precise spot so you have to learn with experience to get it about right.
Another skill you must master, since the gridlines aren't very helpful, is to try to press it against the shallow plastic guides at the top edge, which are, thankfully, precise, but they only stick up a small fraction of an inch so you have to develop the talent of pressing the paper firmly against them (with some finger pressure from above) but gently so the paper doesn't jump over the guides.
(Not important, but I think the color is ugly. Sure I could see that in the photo, but it is the only compact one I could find that would cut a full 11" sheet.)
Bottom line, if you need a compact paper cutter for full size sheets and don't mind some training time at the beginning, this will do it for you.

These are the flat mats
I've just replace the mat and blade on my Fiskars rotary trimmer and now it works as good as new. This mat is the flat variety for older trimmers. It fits my trimmer perfectly and the cuts are as smooth as butter.

Fiskars Paper Trimmer Mats
This was about the only place - on Amazon - I could find the rotary cutter replacement mats that are necessary for the Fiskars rotary paper cutter. What else can I say - they let you do the job! So the kudos are more for the source!

1 Get the proper replacement for the model
2 Follow the instructions on the package.
3 If no instructions be very attentive taking the dull cutter off, and reverse the procedure. Fiskar cutters are spooky sharp so be very careful handling them.

My little sister is lookin' for a paper trimmer or cutter for when she does her craft projects and I am trying to find one for her as a Christmas present. I did buy her a Fiskar's Rotary Paper Trimmer but I have read a few reviews that they are hard to use. Does anyone have a trimmer that they would recommend? Thanks!
Fiskars has a paper trimmer that has grids on the base, a ruler to hold the paper in place and a small cutting blade that runs along a track. I use this all the time and am very pleased with it. It easily cuts 12x12 scrapbooking paper. I have never had a problem or been disappointed with any Fiskars product. They are very user friendly and the products are so conducive to creativity.
