OK for thin envelopes
The letter opener is good for thin enevelopes. It takes a little practice to help guide the enevelopes. Thicker enevelopes are a problem. They skip out. Doing the shorter ends works better, but harder to guide by hand. There is not a double guide. Not really high speed, like zip, zip, zip, etc. done.

Awesome and simple letter opener
Used this on a few envelopes so far and it does a great job. It's automatic and makes opening envelopes of varying thicknesses effortless. Hope that it works for a long time and I won't have to change the batteries that often.

letter opener
This is really handy if you have lots of mail to open.
The only thing you have to watch is to tap the letter down before you use it so you do not catch the mail inside the envelope. I use mine everyday and I really love it. I don't have to look for a place to stick my manual letter opener in and also not to catch the mail inside. I bought two and I would buy another one if and when I would need one. I would also buy it as a gift.

Bought this for a friend who has difficulties using his hands and cannot open mail. Good quality at an excellent price.

Worth Every Penny
I bought myself one of these 1624's from an office supply house this past summer.
Have used it for a few months and I have nothing but good things to say to you about this little machine.
Then through Amazon dot Com, I bought two more as gifts, because I like mine so much.
And I like the people to whom I sent these 1624's.
Now what does that tell you?
About how much I like the 1624.
Need I go into detail about the little machine's selling points, or gift-giving points?
Ok, you asked for it.
A number of years ago, it dawned on me:
If you're pretty sure that you'll use something every day, then go ahead and buy it.
Well, I use my 1624 every day and it puts fun into what was always a minor nuisance.
Zip those suckers open lickety-split.
Trust me, it's fun.
What surprised me is that I'm still on the first set of AA batteries that I originally installed last summer and it still opens the mail real fast.
I like this little hand-held battery-operated letter opener.
It's fast.
Quick.
Easy.
Fun.
No electric wires, no transformer, no desk space needed.
Unobtrusive, inconspicuous, handy as heck.
My 1624 is just a little friend of mine.
You might think that it looks like a toy, but no, don't judge it by its outward appearance folks.
And don't be afraid that you'll be buying new batteries every week.
Nope.
Good little machine.
Amazing.

Great product
Put in the batteries, and you'll be buzzing open your mail in a jiff. You'll be looking for junk mail to open because it's so much fun. Now I have one fewer excuse for paying bills late.
Comes with instructions in 8 languages, including Russian, but not English. But it's so simple, it doesn't matter.

Premier 1616 Automatic Electric Letter Opener,
This letter opener was a failure right out of the box. It did not open an envelope completely, often running off the edge or leaving a groove in the envelope. Some envelopes it just left a groove all the way across the top with no cutting action at all. the cutting wheels spin so fast it jerks the envelope from the feed tray. The envelopes we tried to open were standerd business envelopes, nothing fancy. Pass this one up.
