GBC CombBind C110
Love this binder. The price is GREAT! I put together over 40 books the first week of owning it. Be careful when aligning the paper to be punched, it has to exactly straight. Always double check alignment before pulling the handle to punch the holes, otherwise you may be making another copy of that page or pages. :o)

Best Purchase Ever
I was on the lookout for a binding machine to have at home to make it easier to make booklets and bind projects for my students. I created my own Reader's Notebooks for my students for next year and quickly realized purchasing my own binding machine would be much cheaper than having them bound at Office Max or FedEx Office. I happened upon this machine in a store and went right home and look it up on Amazon. It was almost $100 cheaper than in the store and even with the free shipping, it arrived within a few days. It was ready to use right out of the box with very little direction needed. Despite being a teacher I've never used a binding machine before (I've been spoiled and always had volunteers do any binding I needed) and I was punching holes and binding within moments of having it out of the box. It will bind up to 15 sheets at once and it makes binding larger projects a breeze. The guides on the side for the paper and along the comb holder make it very easy to use, even if you've never done it before. This was definitely one of the best purchases I've made recently that I know will be put to a lot of good use with my classroom.

Very Good Purchase
I pondered considerably over the purchase of this item. I had very little money to spend and I knew nothing about binding. The exact same item, at a more attractive color, was available at other online stores; but Amazon's free shipping, and most importantly, its reviews and item information made the difference. The equipment is so easy to use that I consider binding anything and everything. It's adjustable paper size feature (letter, legal, or over size), and ease of transition from paper hole punching to binding enables one to bind alot of paper with very little effort and energy. I binded 6 (30 page each) court booklets with ease. The recommended 1/2 size comb is very good for binding booklets less then 85 sheets. For larger booklets, simply purcahse bigger combs for use with the equipment. It is a very good investment, especially for one with very little money to spend.

A Law Office Must Have
I use to send out my completed appellate briefs to be printed and bound because I did not have a binding solution. Not anymore. With this GBC unit, binding is easy. I was binding within 2 minutes of having the machine out of the box. The instructions could have been more clear on how to correctly insert the comb into the machine. After about 30 seconds to sort it out, though, I was binding my first volume. Many, many more have followed. There haven't been any problems at all.
Before I bought the comb binder, I seriously considered a Velobinder. Even though lawyers in my area commonly use combs, I was concerned about the possibility of a comb coming undone in the hands of a judge. That worry, though, was unfounded. It is important, though, to choose the correct size comb.
A couple of notes: One can punch up to 15 pages at a time. However, I found with the 26 pound stock I use, 10 pages was about the limit for relatively effortless punching. Next, the more you bind, the easier it gets. In the beginning, it was mildly tricky to line up the comb with the holes. After binding a few volumes, though, it becomes easy and quick. Finally, there are many styles of covers available from paper to plastic in different colors and thicknesses. I have been using clear covers with great success. My output looks exactly like the copies I would pay hundreds of dollars to have Staples or Kinko's complete.
This product does exactly what it is supposed to do and does it well. Highly recommended.

Great Product, Horrible Directions
The product makes really great binders! The hole punch is obvious, how to use but putting the comb on is not as apparent. The directions included are HORRIBLE! The process to put the comb on is well designed and engineered and works quite well... Once you take the time of figure it out and practice. All it would take to fix this problem is some illustrations and close ups but the existing directions are not helpful.

Overpriced
I was excited at first to have the machine, thinking this is a great having a binder and laminator machine all in one. but got disappointed after, i pretty much agree from those who says you cannot use other binder other than the company's which is expensive. And also when i warm up the machine it emits a burning plastic smell. The overall look of the machine is nice, not heavy. Because the smell is annoying i ended up getting myself a new and decent machine for a cheaper price.

Limited use
I bought this the other day and was disappointed to learn that the machine works best with their pre-made book covers. The covers are expensive - only 2 come with the machine (both plain dark covers), and the kits that they sell are pretty pricey. In fact Michaels (where I bought this with a coupon) only had 2 kit styles in stock. I was hoping for a wider range of uses - binding my own books and things like that. I'm going to return it.

Good investment!
I purchased this for my 17 year old niece for Christmas along with the CriCut and Gypsy. She just loved it and can't wait to start making books out of her photos. She figured out how to use it within an hour or so after opening her gifts (and that time included learning how to use the CriCut machine as well!) I would say it is easy to use, although she will need some practice to have everything perfect.
A great investment in creativity! I would highly recommend to others!

Overpriced Story
I thought I would be able to do so much more with this product, turns out, I cannot.
If you buy YourStory's products, binders and laminators, then it works the way it was intended. If you try to make your own covers/binders, then they must be pretty thick (like the ones you have to buy) or it won't bind very well, or poorly. I guess I'm happy I bought this at half price because all its good for is laminating. My kitchen sealer works better at binding.

Great for preserving photos and paper momentos
I have used this to gather up photos and paper stuff that I want to keep. I hated the idea of trying to decide what to do with all the nice little paper memories I cherish. This machine helps you make little books out of awards, drawings, vacation pamplets and photos and lovely little cards. I used it at my nursing job to make little guide books for procedures we don't do very often or to help new nurses learn about procedures.

works fine
i purchased this binder to make personal calendars and it works pretty good.
the only problem i have with it is that it is so big. the handle is really wide and i assume they made it like that on purpose so that you dont have to use as much power when you push down.
storing this thing seems to be a pain in the butt and i would have rather had one that had a smaller handle even if it requires a little more force when pushing down or have a handle that folds for easy storage.

Works Great!!!
I am a teacher and used the binding machine to make booklets for the classroom. I had laminated pages to bind. To be on the safe side I did only 3 laminated pages at a time. Make sure to practice, especially if you are not using standard paper sizes so that the holes line up centered from the top and bottom.

Good for a lightweight machine
This machine says that it will punch up to 10 pieces of 20# paper. The most I could punch at one time was 8, and that was difficult. It works best with 1 to 3 pices of paper. If you have never used this type of a binding machine, be prepared to spend some time on each job. First you have to carefully stack the papers so the left edges are all even. Then you have to punch holes in 1 to 3 pieces of paper at a time. When this is done, then you have to use the machine to open the plastic comb and carefully place each piece of paper on all of the open fingers. I bought this machine for home use to help bind various sets of papers such as tax returns. The C75 worked well in peforming this function, but extra time was needed to punch the required holes. If there were any creases or staples in the paper, they had to be cleaned up so they would fit in the small opening for the punch to work. I paid $72.75 for my machine in March of 09 and now it sells for about $10 less. At this price it is a good piece of equipment if is durable enough to last a while. If you are doing lots of comb binding, this machine is probably too slow and light weight.

Did you find a online or book/binder style planner more helpful in planning your wedding?
Jan 19, 2009 by ammurray@ymail.com | Posted in Weddings
I am looking for wedding planners to help me be organized and there are so many to choose from. Did you find an online website with an organizer, or a book/binder planner more helpful? Which ones did you like/recommend? Are there any to stay away from.
Thanks!!!
I used the planner on TheKnot.com. It was very helpful, especially since it posted 'alerts' as to what I should have accomplished, or should start thinking about, during that month or week. It had some things I didn't even think of!
I also bought a wedding binder organizer, but I never used it! I just kept all of the vendor info and contracts in a folder.

I loved the planner on knot.com- it was easy to update, and it added things to my "to do" list as the date got closer. I had a notebook where I kept all of my notes about meeting with vendors, but the online tool really kept me organized and on task for everything.

I just used a white binder with dividers for decorations/ invite list etc.
Then I owuld print things off the internet etc as I ordered, it worked great.

i carried a binder so that i always had it with me no matter what. so if i had to run some and pay a deposit i had my binder and could track it right then and there

i found that having a planner to have and look thru and carry on my person was better than online planners. i like the everything wedding planning book series. they are fun, have tons of guides, work sheets etc to work with too.
also carry a sectioned folder with you for contracts, receipts, color swatches, notes etc

Great question! I wish I had thought to ask it when I started planning my wedding!
I would recommend getting a 3-ring binder planner. There are several good ones you can find online. I used The Ultimate Wedding Planner. I’ll post a few links for you.
I would stay away from any planner that is bound – meaning you can’t add additional pages to it. I bought a standard planner, but added my own guest list spreadsheets, to-do lists (based on ideas from bridal magazines and websites), plastic sheet covers for fabric swatches, samples and emergency contact lists!
Good luck and have fun!

Is a recipe binder/book better than a recipe box?
Jan 02, 2007 by krimson.suicide | Posted in Cooking & Recipes
I would like to know what you think would be better. A recipe box, or book (sort of thing in a binder)
Its going as a present for a boy.
Binder is the thumbs up, that's what I use. My trick is, well just like in the other years when they made Albums and you only liked one or two songs, I take my recipe books, scan the recipes I want and print them out and into the binder, tab the sections and you're looking is easy

Should I use a book binder or plastic cases for my baseball cards?

I will answer any questions you ask me about the binder and plastic casing
You must value them if your collecting them so if it were me I would put them in plastic

At What stores can I buy a model portfolio book/binder for my photos?
Dec 14, 2007 by *Bella* | Posted in Other - Visual Arts
I have an interview on Saturday and I only have today to get my book and print out my photos. If you have one yourself can you tell me what sized photos you used ( i'm using 8x10) but not sure if they should be bigger. Also can you please include the price ranges of these books!! Thank you!!!!!!!!! :)
8x10 is pretty standard so basically you can go to any mal-wart or art supply store/office supply store to get your binder; the dollar store might even have it! price range $1-$10

this one is expensive:

Is it Possible to laminate a hard cover book or binder?
Apr 02, 2009 by PatBen | Posted in Other - Arts & Humanities
I am wondering if its possible to laminate the outside of a hard cover book or binder so that the front and back covers of the book are laminated but the book is still able to be opened and viewed but the outside and inside covers are protected?
I hope that makes sense. thank you
